Reading RSI Without the Noise
How to keep RSI useful when every textbook zone seems to fire at once.
RSI becomes noisy when traders treat every cross of 70 or 30 as an actionable event. In liquid markets those crossings are frequent; most of them do not mark a durable turn.
A quieter approach starts with swing pivots on price first, then asks whether RSI made a corresponding swing. That order keeps the oscillator from leading your narrative.
In class we ask students to mark only divergences that sit against a clear prior impulse. The filter removes a large share of false positives without adding complexity.
If your journal shows more RSI notes than price-structure notes, reverse the ratio for two weeks and review how decision quality changes.
